Memphremagog Community Maritime (MCM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that owns and operates the Northern Star on Lake Memphremagog. We welcome and accept gifts of any amount at any time! Donors can give directly online or with a check mailed to Memphremagog Community Maritime, PO Box 44, Newport, Vermont 05855. Would prefer to present the gift personally to us, then drop by the Northern Star Ticket Office at the Gateway Center located in downtown Newport during cruising season. If monthly gifts are more convenient for you, we can help you arrange them easily. Ask our board how we can assist you with your donation. And know that every gift helps us support our educational opportunities for area school children and provides critical funding for our general operations. We hope you consider a gift today!
Annual Giving campaign
Have you cruised with us or seen the Northern Star sailing Lake Memphremagog during this summer? It was Memphremagog Community Maritime’s first season on the lake, and what a success it was! Almost 6000 people representing 44 states sailed with us; but sadly we missed our Canadian cruisers. We worked with over 70 community partners, including 11 area restaurants to bring a very enjoyable experience to our guests.
After a very successful first inaugural season, we have a pledge of $40K to continue our programs on the Northern Star, including our “Floating Classroom” and our plan to lease the Gateway Center and establish our Newport version of Burlington’s ECHO Center, ours to be called the Memphremagog Maritime Education Center. In addition to promoting local tourism, we plan to offer environmental education “hands on” learning experiences using the Northern Star and education center. School trips will be encouraged from both sides of the border.
Currently we are in a fundraising stage, and with your contribution you will help us reach our goal of $100K to get our educational center plan underway. We have received the first installment of the $40K ($10K). Once we match this, we will receive a second $10K and so on until the full match is met. Memphremagog Community Maritime is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and your contribution is tax deductible. And this money will stay close to home!

Are you interested in supporting specific programs, tickets for disadvantage youths or our general operations, you can direct your donation to support the specific use. Just include a letter outlining your directions for your gift and we will apply it to that specific purpose.

WORKPLACE GIVING – A simple and cost-effective way to support our programming is through employers who offer a workplace giving program, often through payroll deductions. Some employers will even match their employees’ gifts at 1:1 or even double!
How to begin – Contact your Human Resources Department about your company’s workplace giving program. Your employer will provide you with a form to complete and send to us. We will verify the information on the completed form, and return it to your employer for approval and processing. It is as simple as that!
